Access restriction by IP address
In RetailVista, it is possible to restrict access to the website to specific IP addresses. For example, access may be limited to the store only, and not from various locations worldwide. This restriction is possible by using IP restrictions in 'company maintenance'. As shown below, a checkbox can be checked for 'IP restriction access'. It is then important to specify one or more IP addresses below that should have access (retain access) to RetailVista.
IP addresses are unique worldwide, but it is important to understand that an IP address belongs to an internet connection. Therefore, it does not matter how many PCs are behind a connection, the IP addresses of those PCs are not known on the internet (and therefore cannot be used for authorization).
The IP address of the location from which a connection must be made to the RetailVista website can be determined using tools such as www.myipaddress.com. But it is also displayed on the login page of RetailVista ERP. The user's IP address is highlighted in red below.
By adding that IP address to the list of IP restrictions, a user can log in to RetailVista from that IP address. Because the list of allowed IP addresses can become quite messy (who is what), a description of the IP address can be given between the '<' and '>' characters.
If, despite this explanation, you have made a mistake in determining allowed IP addresses and have thus excluded yourself from accessing RetailVista entirely, please contact our support desk. They can assist the application administrator in restoring access.
