The withdrawal of loyalty balance is independent of whether you can earn points on a product.

You can indicate on which products points can be earned and on which it cannot. Sales generate a certain number of points per product, depending on the earning method.

When redeeming loyalty points, only the amounts are considered. The points are converted into amounts, as set, and this amount is then distributed among the sales amounts per product line. It does not matter whether the product is eligible for earning points or not.

If this were not the case, it would mean that you can only redeem loyalty points for products that are eligible for earning points, and if there is a receipt with products that cannot earn points, they cannot be redeemed.

Redeeming loyalty points can be compared to a discount amount that is distributed over the lines. Earning them is then not relevant. When returning the product, the data from the original receipt is used, as the transaction data per sales line is "remembered". These points are then returned. Otherwise the redemption of the original receipt would not be evenly distributed over the amounts.

This is how saving and withdrawing savings balance works within RetailVista.
