This document describes how authorizations can be applied in RetailVista. Each user is added to a security role. This is usually based on a specific function, so that multiple employees with the same function can also be added to the same security role.

Security groups are assigned under the security roles. In RetailVista, there are a number of standard groups that can be used, but it is also possible to create new groups. The security groups indicate the permissions. This only concerns the parts that are allowed and can therefore be used. RetailVista does not work with exclusions.

By adding the security groups to a specific security role, the permissions of this security role are determined. By adding users to the security role, it is determined for which users these permissions apply.

Security Groups

Extra -> Security -> Security Groups

Here, security groups can be viewed, modified, or added. The permissions are listed under the permissions tab: what is allowed for that particular security group.

When creating a new security group, it is possible to choose to copy the permissions from another security group.

It is possible to block a number of permissions from self-created security groups, which should be excluded. But adding extra permissions is also allowed here.

Security roles

Extra -> Security -> Security roles

Here security roles can be viewed, modified and added. Under the security groups tab, security groups can be added or removed for the respective security role.

Under the users tab, the users who fall under the security role are displayed.

Applying authorization

Extra -> Settings -> Authorization

Security only works if authorization is enabled. This concerns RetailVista website authorization and/or RetailVista POS authorization. This is the final step that needs to be performed for it to work.

Note: This setting should only be enabled when all users have been assigned security roles. If this is not the case, users without a security role will not have the right to do anything, unless a user is made an administrator.

Extra -> Security -> Users

Assigning the role ultimately happens at the user level. Select a user and assign the security role under the "security" tab.
