Configure Newland MT90 for SureMDM

SureMDM consists of an agent on the scanner that ensures communication between the scanner and the management website. In addition, SureLock is installed to secure the scanner. This allows only the desired applications to be available (RV Mobile, settings, and possibly MobileX).  

Step-by-step plan

- Factory Reset (not necessary for a new scanner)

- Choose 'Language'.

- Click on Start.

- Connect to mobile network (skip if using WiFi).

- Connect to WiFi.

- Wait until checking for updates is completed.

- Set up as a new device.

- Skip login > skip again.

- Name (Do not enter a name)

- Next.

- Protect your phone > 'Not now' > 'Skip anyway'.

- Allow apps to determine your location > turn off > Accept

- Anything else? > 'No, thanks'.
Go to settings:

- System > About phone

- Tap Build number 7 times to enable Developer options

- System > Developer options > Networking > Always allow Wi-Fi roaming scans > On

- System > Developer options  > Drawing > Turn off all animation scales

- System > Date and time > Automatic time zone > Off

- System > Date and time > Select time zone > Choose the correct time zone (depending on the customer)

- System > Date and time > Use 24-hour clock > On

Check the time in the top right corner of the screen.

- System > Language and input > Virtual keyboard > Android keyboard
- Virtual keyboard >
- Preferences > Auto-capitalization > Off
- Virtual keyboard > Double tap is period, space > Off
- Theme > Material Dark
- Custom input > Clear all
- Enable gesture input > Off
- Text correction > Off
- Advanced > Off
- Extend Settings > Scan Settings >
- Output mode > Simulate keystroke > On
- Overwrite output > On
- Output enter-event > On - Symbologies >
- EAN13 > Detail > Transmit Check Digit > On
- UPC-A > Detail > Transmit Check Digit > On
- Symbologies > Advanced >
- Other > Detail > Noise Reduction > On
- The Power Plan > High-performance
- Disable location and NFC!
- Set WLAN Band, (it takes a long time if the scanner has to determine the type itself)
- Settings > Wi-Fi > Preferences > Advanced > WLAN Band > Choose 5GHz or 2.4GHz.
- Disable the Google Play Store by selecting the three dots in the top right corner.
Note: All necessary APKs are available at 249900.nl > Mobile device installation. Open the browser and go to 249900.nl.
Remote installation:
1. Have the customer set up Wi-Fi.
2. The customer must then download TeamViewerQS.
3. Install TeamViewerQS. Also install the addon.
4. Take control of the scanner with TeamViewer. Afterwards, you can continue with the installation.
Installing the apps:
1. First, install the SureMDM Newland Enterprise Agent.
1.1. Open the app and check if Admin is selected.
2. Install SureMDM Agent.
2.1. Open SureMDM Agent.
2.2. Click on scan QR Code

For Remote installation, enter the Account ID: 081900549

Select: Use System Generated Name

Click on Set Device Name

2.3. Click on Scan QR Code

On the SureMDM management website, select "enrollment" (bottom left of the screen). Scan the QR code.

Optional

• Choose "Options" and select the correct group, then generate QR code.
• Select the option "Scan QR" on the scanner. By scanning the QR code,

Go to home: select the scanner from the list > modify the name.

Move the scanner to the correct group > right-click > Move to Group

Select the scanner from the list > Choose Apply > Newland - auto install Full

Attention!!

If you have taken over a scanner remotely, choose:

"Newland - Install auto full | remote"

All necessary apps will now be installed.

Remove RV Mobile

Select the desired scanner and choose "Apps".

Select RV Mobile and choose "Uninstall".

Temporarily close SureLock

On the scanner, SureLock can be temporarily closed by tapping the screen 5 times and entering the password

Extra: Firmware. Pay attention to the model number MT9052 (Not tested, no update needed yet).
