Giftcard for product returns
This article explains how RetailVista enables refunds in the form of gift cards instead of cash refunds. This encourages customers to return to the store for future purchases. In this case, the gift card is not a card or something similar but a gift card printed by the receipt printer. This article explains how to create a gift card from a return and how the created gift card can be used for future purchases.
Creating a gift card from a return
Scan the items that a customer wants to return, along with any items they want to purchase. Items can be scanned for return by applying a negative quantity or by scanning the original receipt and selecting the items to be returned. Then go to the payment screen. If the total amount to be paid is negative, you can choose the payment method 'Return gift card.' It is possible that this payment method has received a slightly different name. After closing the transaction, a gift card receipt will be printed in addition to the regular receipt. This gift card receipt should be kept safe by the customer as it represents monetary value.
Redeeming a gift card
Perform the sale of items normally. At the payment screen, choose the payment method 'Gift card.' It may also be that this payment method has received a slightly different name. A screen will appear as shown below where the gift card can be scanned. Depending on the gift card settings, it is not necessary to apply the full amount. Scan the gift card barcode and ensure that the correct amount to be deducted from the gift card is entered.
Depending on the total amount to be paid, additional payment methods can now be added, or the transaction can now be completed.
Checking the gift card balance
Depending on the touchscreen layout, there will be a button named 'Gift card balance.' Click on this button and scan the gift card receipt to see the details. Ensure that the correct type of gift card is selected in the drop-down menu. In this example, it is 'Credit note.'
