How are the sender addresses determined on package service labels?
These addresses are determined from a combination of several location data from RetailVista. When composing a shipping label, various relationships and addresses are calculated and sent to the courier service.
Sender address
The relationship from the location setting, 'General' tab, is used by default. This is essentially the license holder of the RetailVista location. An alternative 'webshop relationship' can be specified in the 'Webshop' tab. If that is the case, then that relationship is used.
The relationship found above is used as the sending 'relationship' and its name will appear on the sender address.
Shipping address
The alternative delivery address of this found relationship is used as the address from which the product is shipped. If no alternative delivery address is available for this relationship, then the standard address of the relationship is used.
Return address
In the 'Webshop' tab in the location, an alternative relationship can be specified for the return address. If that is filled, then that relationship is used to determine the return address. If that field is not filled, then the relationship found earlier is used.
From the now found relationship, a search is made again for an alternative delivery address. If one is available, it is used as the return address. If no alternative delivery address is available for this relationship, then the standard address of the relationship is used.
If no alternative relationship is specified for returns, then the shipping address is used as the return address.
Collection address
In the 'Webshop' tab in the store, a different relationship can be specified for the collection address. If that is filled in, then that relationship will be used to determine the collection address. If that field is not filled in, then the previously found relationship will be used.
From the currently found relationship, a different delivery address is searched again. If that is available, then it will be used as the collection address. If there is no different delivery address available for this relationship, then the standard address of the relationship will be used.
If no different relationship is specified for returns, then the shipping address will be used as the collection address.
Used addresses per courier service
According to the above calculations, different relationships and addresses are used. All of these are offered to each courier service integration, but it depends on the functioning of the integration which address will ultimately appear on the label as the sender's address.
For example, there is already a difference between 'collect' and 'return': a shipment for which it is indicated that a customer wants to pick it up (for example, at a Pickup point) can theoretically have a different return address than a shipment that is delivered to the door. It is also possible that a certain courier service does not even support certain types of addresses (such as 'collection'). Below is an explanation per courier service.
PostNL
The calculated 'Return address' is used as the sender's address on the PostNL label. Collection address support is currently not available.
RetailVista courier service
The calculated 'Return address' is used as the sender's address on the RetailVista label.
Collection address support is currently not available.
