How can I add new types of debit cards to a Banksys EFT integration?

Article summary

This is a continuation of QA 348. See also binaries at QA348 where a PDF from Banksys has been added with all available standard types of payment cards.

This QA is about restricting certain payment methods in combination with certain payment cards to be used. In the maintenance of payment methods, one or more EFT payment card codes can be specified per payment method. At Banksys EFT Integrations, working with card types is less straightforward compared to, for example, a CCV integration. Banksys uses so-called 'Bitmap' codes for new types of payment cards. Unfortunately, these cards with their bitmap codes need to be programmed into the software because the user works with a 'Code' (text) while Banksys uses a complex bitmap notation. Developing a new card in the RetailVIsta POS software requires time and also means that a new card cannot be used immediately, even if the bitmap value to be used is known.

Starting from RetailVIsta POS version 22.1.80xx, a bitmap code can also be specified as an EFT card code. The syntax is as follows:

<Bitmap column|Value>

Example: 10|64

This is an example of a VPAY card in bitmap column 10 with value 64 (hex 40). This can be found in the PDF from Wordline with information about card codes. Therefore, a conversion takes place from a HEX value from Banksys to a decimal value in RetailVIsta POS. Below is a screenshot from the PDF from Wordline, clearly showing that the value HEX 40 is located in column 10 for a 'V PAY' card. Note: Columns are counted starting from 0, so the first column has number 0.

The value of the card to be used cannot be determined differently at this time other than contacting the support desk of Worldline. On the receipt, there is a text as shown below. Below the type of card used, there is also a number (A0000...).

For new types of payment cards, the advice is to contact Atos to inquire about the bitmap value associated with that new debit card.

V PAY

(A0000000032020)

V-PAY

Card:                492455xxxxxx7967

Card serial number:                    0
