How can I automatically issue a new gift card with the remaining balance of the previous gift card?
RetailVista can issue an electronic gift card for a remaining balance. This is done in the form of a return voucher / credit note. The settings to be made are as follows:
- Go to Administration -> Payment Methods in RetailVista. Find the payment method used for accepting gift cards and adjust the minimum amount to 0.00 euros. Change the option 'Automatically calculate change' to 'No'.
- Go to Administration -> Gift Card Definitions and create a definition for a gift card resulting from returned items. The term can deviate from a normal gift card, for example, 365 days instead of a few years.
- Now go to Extras ->Settings -> section 'Gift Card Integration'. Choose the 'RetailVista' tab and activate the issuance of a gift card for returned items. Select the previously created definition for returned items under 'Returned items gift card definition'. Select the payment method to be used for returned items under 'Returned gift card payment method'. This can generally be the existing 'RetailVista gift card' payment method.
Specify a range for 'New gift card number range' within which RetailVista is allowed to generate return gift cards. Generally, a range of 10000 to 999999 can be chosen.
Now update RetailVista POS and sell an article.
Pay with a gift card and enter the full amount of the gift card in the gift card payment screen, so that more is paid than necessary. When closing the transaction, the full amount of the 'old' gift card will be debited and a separate receipt (credit note) will be printed as a new gift card with the remaining balance.
Of course, a license is required to use the RetailVista gift card.
