How do I install RetailVIsta Mobile?
Introduction
RetailVista Mobile is the successor of RetailEverywhere and can be installed on any IOS, Android, or Windows Phone device. Currently, the application is only published to the Apple AppStore and Google Playstore.
To find and install the app on Apple devices, search for 'RetailVista Mobile' in the AppStore.
The app can also be found in the Google Playstore in the same way:
After installing the app, it will prompt for an activation code upon startup. This activation code contains all settings, such as connection information and basic login information. To obtain the activation code, go to 'Mobile devices' within RetailVista. Add a new device and give it a unique description. In the 'Applications' tab, select the applications that can be used on the new device. In the 'Activation' tab, the activation code can be obtained by taking a photo with the camera of the mobile device.
Licensing model
The licensing model of RetailVista Mobile requires license(s) per device. There is no license per user, but only per device. This is consistent with RetailEverywhere. The difference with the RetailEverywhere license is that here, the active applications on a scanner must be chosen. The total number of activated applications across all devices is the number of RetailVista Mobile application CALs (Client Access Licenses) that need to be purchased.
Next to the number of application CAL's, a base amount is charged per device. These are the device CAL's.
The licensee therefore only purchases a number of device and application CAL's and can then determine how many applications are available per individual device.
Starting
After RetailVista Mobile has started and the activation code has been scanned, the module screen appears.
Question: Can RetailVista Mobile also be used in an offline environment?
Answer: Yes, but this depends on the existing infrastructure. If RetailVista Mobile is used from the public Internet, a firewall opening will have to be made. If RetailVista Mobile is only used in the local 'LAN' where the RetailVista server is also located, no adjustment to the firewall is necessary. Making a firewall opening does have security consequences and will in any case require the installation of an SSL certificate. Contact your hardware supplier and possibly NedFox to assess the further impact and take appropriate measures.
