This type of reader is optionally built-in and included with AerPOS systems.

The Olimex RFID reader is supported from RetailVista POS version 15.1.5647.16773 and higher. So, it is important to first ensure that you have this version of RetailVista POS.

Now, go to Administration, RFID devices in RetailVista and add this RFID reader. Choose Olimex AerPos RFID as the reader type. Set the serial port settings to: 19200 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity, no hardware handshaking. Uncheck all options for DTR, CD, and RTS. Determine the COM port to which the RFID reader is connected. This works through a USB > COM conversion, where the reader is connected via USB but recognized as a COM port within Windows. The COM port can also be viewed later in Windows Device Manager.
It is possible to use the RFID for entering only the password, although this may not be used frequently. However, the setting should be checked, which can be found under Extras > Settings > Point of Sale > "Password with RFID card" (NO).

Now, link the created RFID reader to the desired POS terminal(s). In most cases, the drivers are automatically downloaded from the Internet. If not, try using the drivers from the binaries provided with this QA. Synchronize and restart those terminals. It is now possible to test if the reader is working properly. Go to File, Configuration within RetailVista POS and then go to 'Users'. Select a user and click on 'RFID card'. Now, swipe a tag over the RFID reader. The screen with 'Waiting for RFID card' should disappear immediately. From this moment on, the scanned tag is linked to the user.

When scanning the RFID tag, the reader should emit a beep sound. If this does not happen, the tag is not recognized technically and either the reader is defective or the tag does not match the reader. The Olimex RFID reader supports 125Khz tags.
