User roles are new since RetailVista 15.11.5543 and can be used to reduce the amount of information on the screen. The idea behind user roles is to create common user roles and then disable certain components per role per screen. The components that can be disabled are menu items and left taskbar items. In a future release, tabs and grid templates will also be linked to roles. The idea is also to directly link a certain role to a user account.

The available user roles are displayed at the bottom left of each page, in the same way as the active location. By choosing a different role, the screen will adjust to show only what is visible within that role.

A new user role can be created using the '+' icon in the left taskbar at the bottom left. After clicking on it, a level can be specified at which the role becomes available. By default, 'User' level is suggested. This means that the role is only available to the user under which the role is created. Other levels are 'Location', 'Company', and 'Organization'.

After creating the role, it can be modified using the 'Pen' icon. The entire screen will then enter 'Edit' mode and the option to enable or disable each menu choice will appear next to each menu item.

By finally clicking on the 'Save' icon next to the user role, the changes are saved and only those menu items that were checked are displayed. The unselected menu choices from the example above (Products, Promotions, Product lists, Exchange) will now disappear in the screen below.

In the same way that menu choices can be turned on and off, the left taskbar items can also be turned on and off. The screen below shows what happens when a user role is mutated.

Note: It is currently not possible to delete a created user role.
