How does the print queue work in RetailVista?
The label print queue exists for each individual store, in the situation where multiple stores are present. This means that each store can print labels separately, and the remaining labels to be printed are tracked in the queue for each individual store.
To use the print queue functionality, the 'Labeling' license is required.
Various settings can be made in the 'Queue' tab under Extra -> Settings -> section 'Labeling' to configure the print queue functionality.
Active products filter | By activating this, only 'Active' products are added to the label queue instead of 'All' products. The definition of an 'Active' product is indicated through other settings (see below). |
Add only label products | For each supplier, brand, product category, and/or product, it can be indicated whether printing labels is desired. This setting indicates whether a product can only be placed in the queue if it is a label product. |
To queue on price change | Place product in queue when the selling price is changed |
To queue on change from non-automatic to automatic ordering method | If it is indicated that the product should be automatically ordered in the product availability, then the product will be automatically added to the label queue |
To queue on adding to planogram | If a product is included in a planogram, then the product will be automatically added to the label queue |
To queue on removal from planogram | If a product is removed from a planogram, then the product will be automatically added to the label queue |
To queue on price scheduling | If a scheduled selling price will become active on a product within x days, then the product will be automatically added to the label queue. |
Active within days | The number of days within which a scheduled selling price must take effect, if the product is automatically added to the label queue via the previous setting |
Clear queue rules after days | If a queue rule is older than the specified number of days here, it will be automatically removed from the queue. |
Active product filter definition | |
Only with stock | Only products with stock are considered as active products |
Only sold in the past days | Only products that have been sold in the specified number of days here are considered as active products |
Only printed in the past days | Only products for which a label has been printed in the specified number of days here are considered as active products |
The above settings indicate that there are many configurable criteria for when a product should be placed in the queue. The most obvious setting is for a price change. In that case, a new shelf label often needs to be printed. It may also be desired to print a new shelf label for scheduled price changes that are about to take effect.
But even in the more comprehensive situation where a store, for example, works with shelf plans, it is useful to print a label for a product when it is added to or removed from a shelf plan.
Through Start -> Labeling -> Print Queue, the contents of a queue can be displayed and modified. In that screen, it is possible to filter based on label classification. This allows, for example, all products for which a shelf label is desired to be selected. For these products, the quantity is always set to '1'. Other products are individually provided with a label, such as a 'Sticker' as the label classification.
RetailVista updates the label classification of each printed product based on the classification linked to the chosen label layout. Initially, all label classifications will be empty, but over time, the application will know what type of label classification was last used for each product.
Each line in the queue displays the reason why the product was placed in the queue. Optionally, a specific quantity can be specified per line. In the final print screen, it is then possible to choose the number of labels to be printed. This can be based on the specified quantities from the queue lines, the quantity in stock, or just 1 label per product.
