In order to use 2D barcodes in RetailVista, it is necessary to activate the '2D barcodes' license.

Important to the concept of ViridiCode is that a product is automatically generated from the standby product table. The standby products are a shadow file in which products exist that are initially not present in product maintenance. Once a standby product is used, it is automatically created in product maintenance.

When creating a product from a standby product, a fixed VAT rate is currently used. This can be found in Settings, Product Maintenance section, Standards tab, standby product VAT rate. In the future, a VAT rate table will be created for standby products, but for now, only one VAT rate is supported.

If the situation arises that the POS of a ViridiCode does not yet have a product (only the standby product), a temporary product will be used in the POS to complete the transaction with the customer. POS does not have the ability to create products, but still needs to handle the transaction. For this reason, there is a 'Temporary product for standby products' setting in RetailVista ERP. The VAT rate from this product will also be used in the POS to temporarily create the product. In the future, when a VAT table exists for standby products, that VAT rate will be applied.

When creating a product, it is currently always marked as a 'Multiple prices' product. This is especially desired for plants.

Also here it applies that in the long run perhaps more configuration options are desired.

A new type 'Datamatrix' must be created for barcode types.

In order to print 2D barcodes, separate label layouts need to be created. Printing ViridiCode labels is only possible from product receipts. There is a separate QA 576 available on how to print 2D barcodes in label layouts.

Finally, at least once, an import of the VBN data from the FloriCode foundation is necessary. At the moment, this is still a separate import routine that can be started upon request. Eventually, this import can be scheduled in the task planner.

After these actions, ViridiCode Datamatrix barcodes can be used.
