Installation of RetailVista Mobile for offline users.
1 - Install RetailVista Mobile API on the customer's server in the folder \inetPub\wwwRoot\api.mobile.retailvista\. Name the website instance 'api.mobile.retailvista'. Bind the website to the hostname 'api.mobile.retailvista'.
2 - Ensure that in 'RetailVista Connect', the local URL of RetailVista Mobile API is known to the customer. By default, the URL http://api.mobile.retaivista is always used. It is not necessary to add the local domain name here. Product Development manages the Connect environment. The URL is added in Connect under the 'Instance' names. The appSetting 'InstanceName' is used to read and provide the environment name to 'Connect' in the Retail3000 back office.
3 - Add the hostname as an A record to the customer's DNS server. Do this as a new host entry 'under' the local domain name. Then, ping the host api.mobile.retailvista in a command shell. This should give a reply.
4 - Test the RetailVista Connect website by entering the following URL in a browser: http://api.mobile.retailvista/<local domain name>/favicon.ico
In a website that is called from a domain PC, the local domain must be added to the URL, otherwise the website is not accessible.
5 - Test the RetailVista Connect URL from a phone or scanner by entering the same URL as in step 4, but without adding the local domain name.
6 - The infrastructure is now ready to use RetailVista Mobile. Follow the regular installation instructions to add scanners.
Attention: When testing URLs in browsers, DNS rules are often cached. After DNS changes, it is highly recommended to close and restart a browser, and then press Ctrl+F5 on the page.
