Article summary

LocalServices is needed to be able to print thermal labels.

You should see a traffic light icon on the computer where the thermal label printer is attached too.

The traffic light icon has three colors:

  • Green: you should be able to print your thermal labels.
  • Orange: LocalServices seems to have problems.
  • Red: Localservices has problems.

If the status is orange or red, you can try to do the following to resolve the issue:

Right mouse click on the traffic light icon and choose 'restart'. LocalServices will now restart. If the status is green again, you can continue printing.

Alternatively, if the status remains orange or red, you can try to do the following:

  • Right mouse click on the Windows start button.
  • Choose 'run' + enter.
  • Type in 'services.msc' + enter.
  • Select 'RetailVista LocalServices'.
  • Right click the selected line and choose 'Start' or 'Restart Service'.

If the traffic light icon disappears start 'LocalServices' from the start menu again.
