This document describes the different types and their meanings.

Standard

A standard product is what the name suggests, a product that does not meet any of the other types listed below and therefore should be considered as standard. There are no particularities in the different processes for standard products.

Gift card

A gift card product is a product that can be sold as a monetary balance 'Credit'. When selling a gift card, the customer can exchange money for a credit. That credit is placed on a gift card. The sale of the gift card is booked on a specified product of the 'Gift card' type.

Kitchen

A kitchen product is a product to which hospitality properties can be assigned. In the cash register, this can lead to additional questions, such as coffee with or without additives. Kitchen products can also be printed on kitchen printers.

Product group

A product group indicates products that are not 'real'. These are products that cannot be scanned and are sold in a 'Miscellaneous' group. A product group is intended for the sale of various/other products. To calculate the scanning percentage, the ratio between product group and non-product group products is calculated.

Consignment

A consignment product is a product that is loaned (on consignment) by the owner for sale. If the sale takes place, the owner receives money. If the sale does not ultimately take place, the product remains the property of the owner and will be returned at a later time.

RetailVista does little to nothing with this indication, but by using this type of designation, it makes searching for it possible.

Product bundle (custom product)

A product bundle is similar to a product group and is a product that customers need to order but does not exist as a standalone product with its basic information. By marking a product as a product bundle, it is not included in the conversion from sales to purchase orders. After all, it does not concern the same products that multiple customers want to order; each customer/order may refer to a different product. Product bundles also receive separate processing during goods receipt. This type of product will likely be renamed to 'custom product' in the future.

Collection

A collection product is a product that consists of components, essentially 'Sub-products'. This is used, among other things, in package sales, such as pot-plant combinations. The collection product represents the arrangement itself, while the underlying products are the pot, the plant, and any other additions.

Shipping costs

A shipping costs product is used to prevent shipping costs from being 'Delivered' as a separate reservation in the logistics process. Shipping costs should only be included in a reservation when a non-shipping costs product is delivered. During the first reservation/delivery to a customer, the shipping costs product(s) are automatically added, not before.

Cash on delivery

A cash on delivery product is a product on which amounts are recorded that must be paid to the delivery person later.
