Why is the balance of the gift card sometimes not mentioned when linking to an Intersolve gift card?

<span class="fr-marker" data-id="0" data-type="true" style="display: none; line-height: 0;"></span><span class="fr-marker" data-id="0" data-type="false" style="display: none; line-height: 0;"></span>This document describes the background why sometimes no balance information is displayed when requesting the remaining balance of a gift card in an Intersolve integration.

To retrieve the balance from Intersolve, RetailVista POS uses the GetCardExtendedDetails function. This is a relatively new function in Intersolve (available from version 4.3 at least) and this function provides balance information among other things. If this function is not available (supported), the balance of a gift card remains 'empty' and is considered as 0. As a result, no balance is displayed in the gift card detail information screen, and the display of the remaining balance on the receipt does not appear. (In older versions of RetailVista POS, a negative remaining balance appeared on the receipt at the time of gift card redemption).

The only solution to this problem is to contact Intersolve and request them to activate the GetCardExtendedDetails method on the specific endpoint.
