The functionality of gift cards and the corresponding fields described below depend strongly on the type of gift card. Consult the RetailVista documentation on this website for correct configuration of gift cards in combination with a gift card provider type.

| Gift card type | The following gift card types are currently supported:

| Email behavior | Should the system request an email address when this type of gift card is sold? Whether anything is done with the provided email address depends on the gift card implementation (gift card type). | ||||||
| Revenue ledger | The ledger account on which the sales value of this gift card should be posted. In RetailVista, the sale of a gift card is considered non-revenue. It is technically possible to select a ledger account that also holds real revenue, but it is recommended to create a separate ledger account used exclusively for gift card sales and payments. | ||||||
| Host URL | The URL of the server of the gift card provider. For a RetailVista gift card provider, no URL needs to be entered. | ||||||
| Sales init string | The init string that must be sent to the gift card provider when a gift card of this type is sold. | ||||||
| Payment init string | The init string that must be sent to the gift card provider when a payment is made using a gift card of this type. | ||||||
| Cash back allowed | Indicates whether returning money to the customer is permitted with this type of gift card. A separate configuration determines how cash back is processed. | ||||||
| Print PIN code on receipt | Indicates whether a readable PIN code should be printed on the receipt. The combination of a PIN code and a gift card number makes it possible to use gift cards online as a payment method. The PIN code provides an additional security measure so that not everyone can use a found gift card to pay online. | ||||||
| Digital card | If a gift card is digital, a printed version of the card is generated on the receipt when it is sold. | ||||||
| Expired | If a gift card type is marked as expired, it will no longer be shown in selection lists when creating new records. Existing records using this gift card type remain unaffected. |
Tab Products
In the Products tab, it is possible to define an init string per sold product for very specific implementations. This applies in situations where different types of gift card products are sold, all linked to the same gift card type. By adding a product here, a corresponding init string can be sent to the gift card provider when that product is sold.
