The purpose of applying resource protection within Exchange is to protect article data from mutations. 

Please note that source protection is applied when articles are placed in Exchange through an import from an Excel file or headquarters. This includes, for example, the selling price, purchase price, or description that can be overwritten. To create a source protection, go to Exchange > Source Protection and there you can create a new source protection as shown below.

 On the "Filters" tab, a description must be provided and under filters, a data (such as the supplier) must be specified or a combination of data. Then, on the "Article fields" and "Purchase fields" tabs, you can select the fields on which the source protection should be applied, as shown below.

Use the arrow icons to move the article fields from the left (all article fields) to the right (protected article fields) and save the data once you are done.

The same principle applies to the "Purchase fields" tab, as shown below.
