RetailVista Bridge is the software that enables printing from RetailVista ERP, RetailVista Mobile, and RetailVista Pack&Ship. All of these applications are cloud-based, while printers are located on-site. To enable cloud applications to communicate with local printers, Bridge software establishes a connection between the cloud and the local hardware. RetailVista Bridge is the successor to RetailVista LocalServices.
A key advantage of this software compared to LocalServices is that it is more stable under poor internet connections. It is also capable of controlling A4/LaserJet printers, whereas LocalServices is only suitable for thermal printers used to print labels.
It is recommended to install this software on every PC that has a locally connected printer which needs to be accessible from the cloud. It is important that this PC remains powered on (logging in is not required). For network printers, it is advised to select a PC in the network that is always on and has access to all network printers. RetailVista Bridge should be installed on that PC so that all network printers are accessible.
Once installed, a traffic-light icon appears in the Windows system tray. A green light indicates a properly functioning connection to the cloud. Yellow means the connection is temporarily interrupted, and red indicates that the RetailVista Bridge Windows Service has stopped and needs to be restarted.
