Marked stock is stock that is marked within RetailVista with the purpose of keeping it out of sellable stock. Examples of marked stock include showroom products, the storage of Christmas products in sealed containers, and plant arrangements.
The marked stock of products remains part of the total product stock, but is deducted from the available stock. By assigning part (or all) of a product’s stock as marked stock, you reduce the available stock. This available stock is, for example, exchanged with webshops. Available stock represents your sellable stock.
Marked stock does not need to be counted (and must not be counted) during stock counts.
Marked stock type
Within the RetailVista administration, you can create as many marked stock types as required. As a minimum, we recommend using the types Showroom, Arrangements, and Storage, depending on how you intend to use them in practice.
When marking stock, you must always specify a type. This allows colleagues to see, for example, that certain stock is showroom stock or that it is stored in containers.
Creating marked stock
There are several ways to create marked stock.
Product
From product maintenance, you can select “Adjust marked stock” from the left-hand task bar. You must first choose the marked stock type. RetailVista then displays the current total number of marked stock units under “New stock”. You can now specify how many units of marked stock should exist for that type.

Product list
A product list can be converted into marked stock. Many RetailVista users who store Christmas products use product lists for this purpose. In most cases, cubic metre (m³) containers are used.
We recommend creating a separate product list for each cubic container and assigning each product list a specific type, such as Storage. As of the RetailVista January 2026 update, all product lists of a specific type (in this example, Storage) can be converted into marked stock. On the start page, select Product Lists, then under Product List Exports choose To marked stock.

In the screen that appears next, you can choose to convert all product lists of the type Storage into marked stock of the type Storage. We recommend not deleting the product list lines after import, so that you can easily retain an overview of which products are stored in which container.

Using marked stock
Now that marked stock has been created, it can also be used in various ways within RetailVista.
Converting marked stock to normal stock
It is also possible to convert marked stock back into “normal” stock. From the Stock start page, select Marked stock to stock.
You would typically perform this action when, for example, setting up a Christmas display again and removing a sealed container from storage, thereby making the stored stock part of your normal stock once more.
Marked stock to stock
In the screen shown next, you can specify that all marked stock of a particular stock type should be converted back to normal stock. In practice, RetailVista simply removes the marked stock. By removing marked stock, your available stock increases and becomes equal to your normal stock again.
After all, available stock is calculated as normal stock minus all marked stock (and open sales order lines). Removing marked stock cannot be undone.
