Article summary

Settings allow for a significant part of RetailVista ERP's behavior to be customized. Settings are available at 5 levels. This ranges from settings at the application (root) level, organization, company, and branch levels to user level. Settings at the application level can only be modified by NedFox. Settings at the organization level are managed by the organization to which you as a retailer are affiliated, to the extent this applies and depending on the configuration choices made by the organization. Retailers themselves are allowed to adjust settings at the company level. And in situations with multiple branches, most settings can also be adjusted at the branch level. The lowest level of settings is at the user level, where behavior can vary per user. Not every setting is available at the branch and user levels. An example of this is the lowest invoice number, which cannot differ per user due to fiscal legislation.

Due to the number of settings, they are divided into sections and tabs within each section.

Adjusting Settings

Settings can be adjusted by first determining the appropriate 'level' and then modifying the value of the setting. For each setting, it is possible to indicate whether deviations are allowed. This regulates that a deviation from this setting can be made at a lower level again. For example, a setting can be made at the 'company' level, but it is possible to deviate from it at the branch and user levels. Or vice versa: a setting is made at the company level and it is set that deviations are not allowed. From that moment on, it is no longer possible for a branch and/or a user to deviate from it.

Finally, it is very important to save a modified setting via the floppy disk icon at the end of each line. Using the delete icon next to it, a setting at the indicated level can also be deleted. The current value of the setting then automatically becomes the next higher level.

Tooltip

Behind each setting, there is a 'tooltip' icon. By hovering the mouse cursor over that icon, additional help text is displayed for the setting of that line.

Search Settings

RetailVista is very flexible in the way it should behave and therefore how it can be used. For this reason, there are many settings, and it can sometimes be difficult to find the desired setting. In the settings screen, there is a 'search setting' text box at the top. In this text box, a few letters can be entered, after which a list appears of all settings where those letters/name appear. By selecting a setting from that list, it automatically jumps to the correct section and the corresponding tab.
