Mail servers can be configured for outgoing email within RetailVista. In the RetailVista settings, the mail server to be used for outgoing emails can be specified. It is possible to use the default RetailVista mail server, but a custom mail server can also be provided. Only paid consultancy support is offered for setting up custom email servers.

Tab Outgoing
This tab is used to configure the email server settings for outgoing emails (SMTP). The following fields are available:
| Server Name | Internet host name to reach the SMTP server |
| TCP Port | TCP port for communication |
| Timeout | Timeout in seconds to communicate with the server |
| Authentication | Different authentication methods are available to log in to the SMTP server. The SMTP server provider will provide information on how to connect. In many cases, RetailVista can determine the authentication automatically, so the 'Automatic' setting is recommended. |
| SSL Mode | The Secure Socket Layer mode handles encryption of traffic between RetailVista and the SMTP server. The SMTP server provider will provide instructions on how encryption should be configured. |
| Username | Username to log in to the SMTP server |
| Password | Password to log in to the SMTP server Password to log in to the SMTP server |
| Logging | Communication with the SMTP server can be logged in the 'Events' table in RetailVista. This setting determines the level of logging. |
