POS immediately jumps to payment screen when scanning a product barcode

This document explains why RetailVista POS may take you directly to the payment screen after scanning an item.

It can happen that after scanning a barcode, RetailVista POS immediately switches to the payment screen.
The cause is often found in the barcode itself.
The final command in most barcodes is an “enter”, which correctly confirms and processes the scanned code.

However, if the barcode was created or printed incorrectly, it may send a double enter.
When this happens, the first enter submits the scanned barcode, and the second enter triggers the jump to the payment screen.
We frequently see this issue with barcodes supplied by external vendors.

If you encounter this behaviour, scan the problematic barcode several times into a text editor such as Notepad.
If an empty line appears after every scan, the barcode is sending a double enter.
